Coming Tuesday, October 6: A New Chance to be Happy, Wealthy and Independent

the-train-is-arrivingHappy Sunday, everybody. I’ve been enjoying a little time off this weekend after working hard for the past few weeks to make my upcoming eBook really special. I’ve been talking about the book since late June, and it’s finally ready.

The book is called New Economy Superstar, and it will be released for free to the world on Tuesday, October 6th.

What the book is all about

When I set out to write the book, I knew I wanted to write about how people are finding new ways to live that aren’t dependent on working for big businesses. I’ve met so many amazing self-reliant people over the past three years since jumping into being self-employed myself.

The more I thought about what’s going on (and the more I read what other people have to say about it), the more I realized that we’re in the beginning of a major change in the way people live and work.

Essentially, technology is making it possible for small businesses and individuals to succeed in ways and areas that weren’t possible just a few years ago. That change is also being accelerated because of outsourcing, the recent global economic meltdown and a growing desire of workers to take control of their own future. These changes not only affect how we work, but also how we live because of the benefits of working in this new way.

This is creating an enormous opportunity for people to create their own future in this New Economy without climbing the corporate ladder.

In the book, I also detail many of the benefits of working in the New Economy, as well as introducing the concept of a New Economy Superstar. Finally, I share 10 tips for succeeding in the New Economy that I’ve learned from starting a venture capital backed startup and bootstrapping a few small businesses.

The book is split into 3 sections, and weighs in at a little over 12,000 words and 80 pages.

Superstar contributions

One of the reasons I’m so pleased with how the book turned out is because of the 11 fantastic original contributions I received from people like Gary Vaynerchuk, Chris Guillebeau and others. All of the people who wrote something for the book are Superstars or gonnabes, and I really look forward to sharing their perspectives with you.

How you can read the book (for free)

First off, do you call this sort of thing a book? Or an eBook, or a report? I’ve used all three terms to describe it. Let me tell you how I’m publishing it, and you can decide what to call it.

I’m publishing the book both as a stand-alone website and as a downloadable/printable PDF. Either way you want to read it, it will be 100% free. I’m not selling anything in the book. I just want to share my view of the New Economy opportunity with you and hopefully pick up some new readers for this blog.

Check here on Tuesday, October 6th for the link to the book.

How you can help (if you want to)

This is my first eBook, and I have no idea what to expect about the launch. I would love to get the book in the hands of as many interested people as possible.

Assuming you like the book and want to help out, I would really appreciate a link from your blog, or a tweet, a stumble or anything you feel like doing to help spread the word.

I would also like to hear what you have to say about the topic, as I have a feeling I’ll be writing a lot more about it in the future.

Anyways, thanks as always for reading. I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday!

Thanks for the support, David!

Hey Corbett,
I’m also looking forward to it. Once I read it, I can write and honest review and place it on my blog and even let people download it from my blog. If you let enough bloggers do that, your book has a great chance of going viral. Email me if it will be okay for us bloggers to let people download it from your site. Cheers.

Corbett Barr October 4, 2009 at 8:23 pm

Hey Gordie, thanks for the interest. Feel free to share the book however you would like to. I would prefer if you direct people to download the file from my site, just in case I release updates to the file over time. I’ll send you an email with more details.

First off I’d like to tell you how happy I am for you that you have discovered something rewarding so early in life. You definitely do not want to wait for your so called golden years (not) to start enjoying life, by which time you may start to feel every bone in your body in ways you wished you had not (grin). If I had waited till now to do what I wanted to do I would never have experienced half of what I have. Even simple things like driving across Canada or the USA may become an impossibility for some.

Corbett, I think you have hit the nail on the head when you said you believed there is a massif social change underway. I think it is a paradigm shift similar to the post WW2 years and that you are catching the wave as it is forming and being shaped by the likes of people such as yourself.

I am very much looking forward to your Book Corbett and believe that it will be a run away success. “Bon Chance” Amigo !!

Corbett Barr October 5, 2009 at 7:03 pm

Thanks, Hans. I agree about the size of this paradigm shift. It really will be the biggest change in the way we live and work since industrialization.

Tristan Lee October 5, 2009 at 4:06 am

Thanks Corbett, it’s very nice of you for doing this. I’ll be looking forward to your book and seeing how the project turns out.

Corbett Barr October 5, 2009 at 7:04 pm

Thanks, Tristan. I hope you’ll let me know what you think of the book tomorrow.
